Old-Growth Cypress Driftwood & Hand-Carved Art
At the front of WeWa RV Park sits the Trading Post—a store filled with unique cypress wood, furniture, and hand-carved art. Every piece tells a story of Dead Lakes' history and Bob's craftsmanship.
The cypress wood comes from Dead Lakes, where old-growth trees have been preserved in the tannic waters for decades. This isn't ordinary lumber—it's artwood with character, grain, and history you can't find anywhere else.
All cypress is ecologically and sustainably harvested. Bob pulls driftwood from the lake—trees that have already fallen naturally—preserving both the environment and these remarkable specimens.
Bob carves many pieces himself right in the store. Stop by and you might catch him at work, transforming raw cypress into one-of-a-kind sculptures, furniture, and decorative pieces.
Whether you're a woodworker looking for exceptional raw material, an artist seeking inspiration, or a collector who appreciates natural beauty, you'll find something special here.
Dead Lakes got its name from the standing dead cypress trees that fill its waters. When the Chipola River was dammed in the 1950s, it flooded the cypress forest, killing the trees but preserving them in the tannic water. Bob harvests these preserved giants—some weighing up to six tons—giving them new life as art and furniture.
Call ahead to make sure Bob's in the store, or stop by when you're staying at the park.
